Under Section 2 of the Health Care Professionals Decree (564/1994 as amended), the right to use the occupational title of trained masseur is granted on the basis of Finnish competence-based qualification tests also when actual training has been completed outside Finland. Applications to use a protected occupational title are addressed to Valvira. Application may be made on an application form.
Applicants must annex the following documents to the application form:
A certified copy of the applicant’s valid passport or other document issued by the authorities.
A certified copy of the competence-based qualification certificate of masseur. The certificate must show the successful completion of all four parts.
To speed up processing, Valvira requests that all documents annexed are certified copies. If an annexed document is an ordinary copy, Valvira needs to verify the document with the issuing organisation. This significantly slows down the processing time.
If the applicant has completed the vocational qualification of masseur in a Finnish educational establishment, application to use the protected occupational title may also be made jointly through the educational establishment concerned.
Valvira may request more information if necessary.
