Markus Henriksson appointed Director General of Valvira
Docent Markus Henriksson, specialist in psychiatry, has been appointed Director General of Valvira, the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health. The Prime Minister’s Office made the decision on Thursday 6 April.
Markus Henriksson currently heads the Healthcare Supervision Unit at Valvira and will take up his new position on 1 May. The position of Valvira’s Director General is a public office, which is now being filled for a fixed-term period from 1 May 2017 until 31 December 2018.
“In Markus Henriksson, Valvira will have a leader of change who is highly familiar both with Valvira’s organisation and the challenges facing the supervision of welfare and health,” said Director General Marja-Liisa Partanen.
“For his part, Markus will get to lead a strong expert organisation, which has already done much work in response to the changes taking place in the operational environment. I’m certain that development work in this respect will continue under the direction of the new Director General.“
Marja-Liisa Partanen, Valvira’s current Director General retires at the end of April this year.
