Social Welfare and Health Care Department
The Social Welfare and Health Care department steers and supervises the activities of social welfare and health care professionals and operating units. The department manages matters related to the licences of national service providers and the steering of licence administration in private social welfare and health care. The department handles and resolves complaints and notifications concerning social welfare and health care professionals and organisations.
The department carries out systematic supervision in accordance with supervision programmes.
The Social welfare and health care department supervises the implementation of the essential requirements of customer and patient information systems and handles reports of significant deviations in customer and patient information systems.
The department is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and developing the preparation of the social and health care supervision program.
The department’s task is to ensure that the secure operating environments of the secondary use of social welfare and health data meet data protection and information security requirements.
The department's duties also include national supervision tasks in early childhood education and care, especially in matters of fundamental or broad scope.
The adoption board operates in connection with the Social welfare and health care department. It is a special expert, licensing and supervisory body for adoption matters that handles adoption licenses.
In addition, the supervisory board for social welfare and health care professionals operates in connection with the department. The supervisory board's tasks include deciding on matters relating to the limitation and revocation of the right to practice a profession, the withdrawal of the right to practice a profession, the prohibition of the use of a professional title, and the resumption of the aforementioned.
