Right of access to own information, and post-adoption services
An adopted child and his/her family are entitled to receive adoption counselling, support and guidance after the adoption is implemented. Also, the adoptee is entitled to access to information on himself/herself free of charge. The party disclosing such information must provide the necessary support and guidance for that purpose.
Post-adoption counselling
Post-adoption counselling is provided by local social services or the adoption agency (Save the Children Finland).
Right of access to information
Disclosure of information concerning an adoptee is the responsibility of the party storing that information. For intercountry adoptions, it is the service provider (Interpedia, Save the Children Finland or City of Helsinki Social Services and Health Care); for domestic adoptions, it is the municipal social services or adoption agency.
