Strategic agenda

Valvira’s basic mission and vision 2020

Basic mission

Valvira has national oversight for ensuring that everyone in Finland has the right to wellbeing, high-quality services and safe living conditions.

Vision

Valvira is an influential, international and highly-regarded regulatory actor.

Strategic objectives 2016-2020

Strategic objectives in a box

Valvira’s new strategy is based on three key agendas: Valvira is pro-active and responds quickly to changes in the operating environment - this agenda means, for example, that risk management is part of strategic planning and everyday operative management, management and personnel competence at Valvira are aligned to changing needs and the transparency of operations is systematically increased. The importance of international operations and influence at the EU level is also highlighted. International best practices will be drawn on to develop expertise and operations.

Renewed operations through digitalisation and by developing methods - this agenda draws attention to processes: the processing of licensing and supervision matters will be overhauled and automated, and all Valvira’s processes and methods will be systematically developed.

Strengthened pro-active supervision and guidance - this agenda highlights new supervision methods: operator self-monitoring will be well-functioning and foremost, risk assessment and indicator-based supervision will be used to prioritise guidance and supervision activities, and supervision and licensing practices will be harmonised nationwide. Interaction with stakeholders and customers will be close and well-functioning.

Strengthening the customer-oriented approach to services is the common theme in this strategic agenda.
