Nurses with Nordic citizenship and training

Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden have an agreement on a joint labour market for certain health care and nursing staff groups. The agreement covers nurses who are citizens of above countries and who are registered nurses in one of the Nordic countries.

The agreement states that when a citizen of the Nordic countries is licensed to work as a nurse in one Nordic country, she/he is entitled to the same license in other Nordic countries as well.

How to apply

Please use a free-worded application with date and signature and mail it to Valvira, the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health responsible for licensing.

Include the following documents:

  • Officially certified copy of your passport or another officially certified document that states your citizenship;
  • Officially certified copy of your original diploma and study records;
  • Officially certified copy of the registration decision in the country of origin;
  • In specific cases, officially certified copies of certificates of employment following graduation if the employment is from nursing field.
